Baby Pumpkin Spice Update

A friend of mine has nicknamed this baby "Baby Pumpkin Spice" due to my love of a certain Starbucks concoction (and hers too!). I like it, so I think I'll use it.

I had my OB appointment this morning, and yes, I actually remembered to go. I had 7 vials of blood drawn for various tests and some other tests as well. I got to hear the baby's heartbeat for the first time (163 BPM). I have seen the baby's heartbeat on ultrasound, but haven't actually heard it until today. I really liked my new doctor and her nurse, they were very thorough and wanted to make sure all of my questions were answered. I didn't feel like I was being rushed in and out, which can happen sometimes in a big practice. She gave me the go ahead to try Tylenol PM for my sleeping issues, hopefully it will help.

My next appointment will be on Oct. 21st, the day when we have the 20 week ultrasound scheduled. It made things a lot easier to have both the ultrasound and my OB appointment on 1 day, even though I will have to see a different doctor in the practice. That's okay, since there is no guarantee my doctor will be the one who delivers the baby anyway, so it doesn't hurt to meet some of the other doctors in the practice. I'll see my regular doctor after that, every 4 weeks until I reach 28 weeks, then every 2 weeks until 36 weeks, then once a week until delivery. It's hard to believe I'm 15 weeks already!

Oh. My. GOd. I can not believe that on Oct. 21 you will be halfway through this pregnancy -- this pregnancy that you worked on for, forever!

And there are certain things that pregnant people can do that I can not. (and there are certain things that I can do that pregnant people can not... AHA! You THOUGHT I was going to say drink! But I was going to say... er... touch my toes! Yeah that's it!) And what you my dear friend can do is drink those lushious PSLs! Your body is working hard and burning extra calories. So indulge and keep giving me a reason to call your little one Baby Pumpkin Spice... which sounds so much better than Baby Skim, or Baby Decaf or Baby Average Cuppa Joe!

haha! But I CAN still touch my toes. At least for the time being. You could always order a nonfat PSL, but I doubt it would be the same! I will drink PSLs for you and you can enjoy a nice cocktail for me!!

Isn't hearing the heartbeat the BEST?

OK we'll go with BPS. A am also finding it difficult to comprehend that you are actually 16 weeks pregnant. Your days of touching your toes are quickly coming to an end, at least temporarily. I can't wait to see you in a couple of weeks.

Love,
Mommasita
