Who Knew?

So, I thought I'd finally start a blog. Mostly for family to keep up to date with Cole and the goings on here in Iowa, since everyone lives so far away. I'm hoping it will motivate me to take more pictures of Cole since I've been a serious slacker in that department this spring and summer.

When you decide to do a blog you, of course, have to think of a good name for the thing. This is not the easiest for me, since I'm not terribly creative. I was in the shower (one of my best thinking spots) and I starting running a list of "who knews?" in my head. Such as:

Who knew a California boy and New York girl would meet in Virginia, and eventually move all over the midwest together?

Who knew exactly how much your parents really loved you until you had a child of your own? I sure didn't.

Who knew a 2 year old could be so frustrating?

Who knew I would turn out to be a pretty decent Mom?

Who knew that trying to conceive a second child would be the biggest heartbreak of my life?

Who knew that that pain would still linger, even after achieving pregnancy?

Anyway, you get the point, I could go on and on. Life takes you on some unexpected, sometimes painful, and long journeys. The destination is sometimes much less important than how you got there, and the lessons you learned along the way.

Who knew we would be so proud to have such a wonderful daughter in law join our family?

Who knew we would have such a great and beautiful grandchild who we adore and miss so much?

Who knew we would be so proud to have a son like Rob who turned out to be such a wonderful husband, dad and son?

Who knew, who knew, who knew???

Who knew I could be blessed with a sister that couldn't be anymore perfect had I hand-picked her from the world?

Who knew two people could go through so much for their family, and still come out stronger in the end?

Who knew the perfect shoulder to cry on came from someone who had really and truly "been there, done that?"

Who knew, indeed! <3

OK, I'm trying this again since I needed remedial help in blogging.

There are a lot of "who knews" in life, such as:

Who knew that the teenage girl who said "I NEVER want kids!!!" would be such a great Mom?

Who knew that we would have such a happy, loving grandson who melts our hearts every time we think of him?

Who knew that our daughter would find the perfect guy for her and we would love him like our own (even though we most lovingly call him butthead as a term of endearment)?

And who knew how much I would want to take your pain and sadness away when you faced each day trying to have another child?

And who the hell knew that you would end up in IOWA for God's sake?????

Love,
Mommasita

I think it must be a lot easier to have someone give you a painful shot than to have to do it yourself. I know, after giving many a shot myself, that the thick, oily, intramuscular shots can be very painful. But Tara, you are one of the toughest people I know (in a good way) and you will do whatever needs to be done.
I never knew that Cole's favorite color was orange. I'll keep that in mind. Sounds like a nice orange UVA sweatshirt would be perfect!! (Not IU red) Sorry Rob.
I think I like this blog thing.

Rob and I were just joking the other day that both sets of grandparents would be happy with Cole's favorite color, since UVA and Illinois have the same colors!

Hmmm, he likes orange, huh? I think I see some Florida Gator gear coming his way, courtesy of Tia and Tio Mike!

The poor child is going to be so confused!!!

Just think how well rounded he will be. I have a feeling there will be lots of orange coming Cole's way for his birthday. The dip was a big hit by the way, Tara. We spoke with the "boot camp" last night and Moosie is getting acclimated well. They are going to start really working him today. We have to call back on Saturday to find out how he's doing. Never thought I would miss a silly dog so much.
Daddy and I are going to the Kennedy Center Friday evening to see the Lion King. I think I forgot to tell you. I have always wanted to see it and heard that is spectacular. Can't wait. We'll be staying in Georgetown which is always fun.

I sent a comment earlier today but apparently I didn't do it right. Here it goes again.

I noted that with the Illinois colors, maybe he will follow on his Poppa's, Dad's and Uncle Jason's footsteps and someday attend the U of I, at the very least for his Masters in whatever field he chooses.

Let's hope you get this one.

Mom - Of course you are missing Moose, he's a part of your family. There's not a day that I don't miss my dogs terribly, as dumb as they are. Have lots of fun at the Lion King, I've seen it, in Indy w/ Bob & Glenda, it was spectacular. I'm jealous you are staying in Gtown, I haven't been there in years.

Bobito - We will, of course, be proud of whatever University Cole decides to attend, but you may have to convince Rob that he's going anywhere but IU!
