I did it!

One of the lovely things that you get to deal with when you go through fertility treatments is the fact that you have to give yourself injections. I've given myself many injections since starting this whole process in late March. Shots in my belly and thighs, for the most part, all subcutaneous.

On June 16th, 4 days before our embryo transfer, I started what are called Progesterone in Oil (PIO) injections. These are intramuscular injections given in my lower back with a pretty big needle. Rob has given me every one of these injections since June, often with bruises and welts as a result. Not because of anything that Rob did wrong, but because that's what happens when you stick a big needle into a muscle and try to inject oil into it.

I dread shot time every single night, but none more than last night. Rob had to be out of town for work, so I was left to my own devices. I watched a video on how to self inject PIO on YouTube (another "who knew?!") and actually, it helped. If this chick could do it, so could I. I probably stood in front of the bathroom mirror for a good 5 minutes trying not to psych myself out. Then, I just did it. Not as well as Rob does, but hey, I got it in there, which is the most important thing. Just add this to the LONG list of things I never thought I'd have to do and had to because of infertility. Anything to keep this baby healthy and staying put!
