Long Overdue

I've been long overdue in updating the blog. We've been home from Florida for a week now, but I haven't much felt like writing. The weather here has been, frankly, depressing. I have seen the sun once, for a few hours yesterday morning, since returning. It's cold, cloudy and starting to drizzle as I type this.

The weather often has a profound affect on my moods, which means I'm obviously living in the wrong part of the country. There are a few weeks in late spring/early summer that are truly glorious here in Iowa, but that's about it. Pretty typical midwestern weather.

Anyway, this post was not supposed to be about the weather. Cole is taking his first nap in over a month and I actually have some time to kill. I can't nap myself, as I will never sleep tonight if I do. Instead, you get my general blabber about nothing.

We had a wonderful time in Florida, we enjoyed family, the weather, and the beach. Cole was in heaven digging in the sand and getting spoiled rotten by his grandparents, Tia & Tio. The only thing that would have made it better would have been if Rob could have joined us. He had to stay home and "make the money" instead. It was a long time to be separated, but we all made it through. The house was even clean when I arrived home. I give my hubby big props for that.

More to come now that we're finally settled back in at home with the dogs. Potty training is going to begin in earnest (I think Monday) and I'm sure I'll have some wonderfully frustrated posts in the near future. We bought some special "Potty Candy" (aka M&Ms) for bribing yesterday and it actually got him to sit on the potty, although he didn't do anything. We'll see. Wish us both luck, it's a difficult and emotional thing to give up your diapers.
