Finding A Needle in A Haystack, and other Pumpkin Patch Stories

We took Cole to the pumpkin patch at Bloomsbury Farms today. They had lots of fall fun, animals to see, and things for the kids. Cole loved seeing the animals, after his initial apprehension subsided. My bird loving kiddo especially loved the chickens and feeding them corn.

Cole also loved playing in the straw tent with Daddy, a place I will call the scene of the crime. Rob was playing with Cole and tossing straw (and Cole) around when he felt his wedding ring slip off. You can only imagine our panic and dread as we frantically searched for the ring. It was literally like trying to find a needle in a haystack. Some very nice people were digging through the straw with us to try and find the thing as well. Rob went to the entrance to the farm to see if they possibly had a metal detector to aid in our search. I stayed behind to keep searching and keep an eye on Cole. About 5 minutes after he left, I saw something shiny in the straw, and lo and behold, I found his ring. I truly did not believe that we would ever find that ring in all of that, and if it were yellow gold, I doubt we ever would have. Overall, we ended up having a really nice day. Cole had so much fun he didn't want to leave, and we got lots of great pictures. He picked out the perfect pumpkin for him, how he saw that little pumpkin in all of those big ones, I'll never know. Maybe he got my eyes for finding things.
